What is Agnipath Scheme?

The Government of India has launched a new scheme Agnipath Scheme. This scheme has been made for the recruitment of youth in the army. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has announced this scheme to make the soldiers of our country the best army in the world.

 The decision of the CCS (Cabinet Committee on Security) meeting on 14 June 2022 was approved by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar along with the chiefs of the three wings (Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar and Chief of Air Staff. Air Chief Marshal VR Chowdhary) announced the Agneepath plan.

What is Agnipath Scheme? 

Under this scheme, the number of soldiers in the three wings of the Indian Army, Army, Navy, Air Force will be increased. For this, 45,000 – 50,000 youth will be recruited every year. Under this scheme, you can join the Army, Navy and Air Force in any part of the army. The youth who join the Agneepath scheme will be called Agniveer.

At present the average age of the Indian Army is 30-32 years but under this scheme With the implementation of the scheme, the average age will be reduced to 26 years.

Under this scheme, about 50 thousand recruitments or notifications will come out every year, the information of which has not been given yet, further it will be available on the website of the three services. After joining the army, the service will be available for 4 years, in which all the government facilities available will be given.

In this, training will be given for the first 6 months and the remaining three and a half years will be service. After 4 years 75% of the soldiers will be given retirement and 25% of the soldiers will be able to continue their job. Service fund package will be available after 4 years of service. 

If any Agniveer dies during the service, then his family members will get an amount of more than 1 crore along with the service fund along with interest and after that the remaining salary will also be given.

If Agniveer becomes disabled, he will get an amount up to Rs 44 lakh and the remaining salary. Under this scheme, pension etc. will not be available after retirement, but more opportunities will be given after retirement.

Apply Agnipath Scheme and Eligibility Criteria –

To join the army in Agnipath Scheme, you must have passed 10th and 12th from any recognized school. And whatever qualifications are there to be recruited in the rest of the army, they should be there. To join the army in Agnipath Scheme, your age should be at least 17 years 6 months and maximum 21 years.

Apply for women’s Agnipath Scheme –

Under the Agnipath Scheme, women can apply in the Army and Navy. Till now women were in the officer rank in the Navy but now they can also work as Sailors. Approval has also been given in the Air Force that she will be able to become Air Woman. At present, they are working on the post of officer only, but later on the post of jawan can also be recruited.

How much salary in Agniveer? 

If the initial of Agniveers is Rs 00,000, then they will get Rs 28,000 as salary, the rest Rs 12,000 and Rs 12,000 ie Rs 24,000 will be deposited in their account as service fund and when you retire after 4 years, they will get Rs. 10-12 lakhs deposited in the service fund will be available and this amount will be tax free. 

The salary will be Rs 30,000-40,000 per month. 70% of this will be received every month as salary and the remaining 30% will be deposited with the government. It will be deposited in the service fund account.

After 4 years job in Agnipath Scheme What will Agniveer do?

 Soldiers will get diploma after army service. They can also be given a credit score. If soldiers want to pursue further studies, the diploma of service in the army or the credit score can be used for further studies.

After retirement from the army, the government will also help them to find new employment. The skill development ministry of the government will teach them skill development. After retirement, these jawans will be able to do jobs in police or central paramilitary forces. Job opportunity can also be found in corporate sector.

Why do armies need Agnipath Scheme?

All classes will get equal opportunity in the armies i.e. now all castes or classes can be recruited under this scheme. In the regiments of the Indian Army, they are recruited on the basis of caste, on the basis of class or community, on the basis of area. As we know that if Rajput regiment has Rajput, Dogra regiment has Dogra etc.

 There is a ban on the recruitment of outsiders in these regiments. Now any citizen of India can be recruited in any regiment. At present, there is a shortage of about 1.25 lakh soldiers in the army, due to which recruitment will be done quickly in the vacant place. It may take 6-7 years to make up the shortfall by normal recruitment.

The government will also benefit from this scheme. At present 60% of the defense budget goes to pension and salary. The huge expenditure on these pensions and salaries will be reduced. With the remaining money, modernization can be done i.e. modern weapons and equipment can be purchased.

Advantage of Agnipath scheme-

More and more youth will be able to serve in the Indian Army because the average age of the army will be reduced. Their capacity will be more i.e. Indian Army will be more productive because the youth have more potential.

The shortage of soldiers in the army will be filled. In this, more and more youth will get an opportunity to work in the army.

With the implementation of this scheme, the huge expenditure on pension and salary will be reduced and new weapons can be purchased by the government from the remaining amount.

This will increase the availability of highly skilled workforce in our country. The soldiers who are in the army have leadership qualities along with discipline. Apart from this, soldiers know how to deal with difficult situations well. That is, the civil sector will get the benefit of the service of trained soldiers.

This year 46,000 Agniveers will be recruited. Under this scheme, there will be recruitment on posts below the rank of officer. With the implementation of this scheme, there will be a big change in the army.
